Just 2 more days before we hit the road (by vehicle) to hit the road by bicycle! The last two weeks have been busy getting all the gear together, checking the lists, trial packs of the panniers, trial rides with all the gear and last minute details of gears and derailleurs. We are definitely all ready.
For the detail oriented people I’ve posted the gear lists and the pannier packing diagram with weights of each bag. The goal is to have the front bags approximately the same weight right and left and rear of equal weight. Then the ratio of 60/40% of front to rear. This keeps the bike more stable both climbing and descending and of course right to left. Our bikes (Trek 520) are steel touring bikes, so they are not super lightweight (30#). Our bikes ride really smooth and descending while loaded they are rock solid. Curt is riding a recumbent, so he’ll have to post his bike specific details.

Amazing! Love the list. Thanks for sharing your adventure….Part 2! Happy trails🎼
