No more planning. Today we ride!

Ocean Beach

We officially started riding today. The start point on the Pacific Ocean at Ocean Beach, San Diego. But first we had to ride from our hotel to the beach. Within the first 4-5 blocks we had an extremely steep hill to get up and over. I would have tipped over it was so steep so it was a 2 block walk up. Did I say it was steep? Could barely get the traction to push my 70# bike up! Curt and Jim we’re walking too. Warmed up quickly and wound our way to the “start” point.

60 degrees, partly sunny. Mid-morning headed east along the San Diego river bikepath. Riding in the city is slow…so many starts and stops crossing streets. On and off the bike path. Pleasant but slow.

Travelled through a regional park. That was a short pleasant diversion from city traffic. So far everything went pretty well but Curt has a really squeeky disc break. Plan to attend to that in Alpine CA Monday.

Nice diversion from city traffic

Alpine was the original goal but decided to take a break at Lake Jennings campground for the night. Expecting rain tonight or early morning. Good first day.
