Day 11. 68 mi. AIS 6:52 hrs. 2332 ft climb 10.3 mph Somerville Lake to Cagle Recreation area in the Sam Houston National Forest. Lake Conroe
Today my nephew Joseph Pappalardo joined us for part of the ride. He lives in the Dallas /Ft Worth area, so he had a 3.5 hr drive to meet us at 8am departure. He was right on time. Jumped on his bike and off we road. We talked and chatted up the first 30 miles to Navasota. Beautiful green and resplendent with wildflowers the entire way. Just beautiful this time of year. We found the Rock n. Roll Cafe in downtown Navasota with good sandwiches. Joseph headed back to his vehicle as he had the long drive and 3 little girls to put to bed. Thanks Joseph for making our day more special!

We had 40 more miles to go. The weather was low 80’s, sunny but really comfortable. We had some wind but on the positive side it kept us cooler.

Navasota starts a new map. No 5 out of 7. Navasota to New Orleans. Here we come!!

Part two of todays ride had short stops in a couple of small towns (Anderson and Richards) for quick snacks. Big dill pickles, bananas, Powerade, a few items to fortify our dinner at camp.
The last 17 mile stretch came as a surprise…suddenly we entered Sam Houston National Forest! We had dappled sunlight along the loblolly tree forest and the boulevard of large yellow buttercups. This made the end of the long day quite enjoyable.

We have a great campsite for the night. Closing out my 65th year of life in a wonderful way😊. Couldn’t be luckier or happier!

Happy Birthday Suzy!!🎂🎊🎁🎉🎈

If your nephew drove to meet you, then rode for awhile with you….how did he get back to his car?? Inquiring minds!! Awesome narratives…..maybe you should write?? Can’t wait to treat you to Gypsy Cab Co dinner & a bottle (or 2🤔) of wine in St. Augustine! Again, Happy Birthday!

I’m pretty set in my ways. Early on I made the determination that I would not enter your daily stopping place on Google Maps until I saw the pictures in cinnicrew. IT’s nice to know your intended route, but in my mind you have to earn it first before it goes down in my Google Maps. It’s Biblical. In Jesus’ day, there was Apostle Thomas, a/k/a Doubting Thomas. Old school.
