When you stay at a Bed and Breakfast you get a nice, fresh homemade breakfast and this one has a great, tasty cup of coffee! Going to be a good Hurricane layover spot. We also seem to have a front row seat… be that good or bad!

We took a nice out and back ride along the Digby neck. It’s a peninsula that extends west toward Bar Harbor, Maine and north of Yalmouth. At Yalmouth you can catch a big ferry across the mouth of the Bay of Fundy to Bar Harbor, ME. Our stats don’t look like we were breaking any speed records but our bikes were certainly lighter today… pannier free.

We were loving the sunshine today!

A guest at the B&B told us about this folk artist named Maud Lewis who was famous in Digby and a movie was made about her called “Maudie”. There’s a replica of her house on the route today so we popped in for a visit. The real house is in a museum in Halifax. It was pretty interesting what a simple life she lived. (1903-1970) She was very poor and suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis.

We stopped at the local library so Jim could make copies of some of the Nova Scotia bike trails we will be taking when we head east to Cape Breton. Librarians are always so helpful. Then we walked the little storefronts down the street to the wharf. The fishing boats are all secured… tied closely to each other and packed in tight for the storm. No fresh fish for awhile!

Tried a different restaurant for scallops and fish chowder tonight. The winner was the blackberry crumble and the bacon wrapped scallops.
Hurricane Lee is coming…
The town has not been ordered to evacuate. People are bringing in their outdoor furniture but no one is too alarmed. Out in the country everyone was mowing their yards today. There’s no boarding of windows and such. We have seen some paramedics that were brought in from inland and the “cherry picker” type trucks are in town for storm preparedness. Town people are calm… expecting power outs and flooded roads. I think it’s only suppose to rain 2”.

The rain is suppose to start in the next few hours.

It’s 8pm
Odds and ends…

If we take this road will we end up at your village?

Sign me up for the free furniture sale. What? Is the correct question. What a beautiful town from your pictures. Well it is good to hear that the town is not bracing real hard. Hope your weekend is good
