Fairly sunny start this morning.
Then it turned to showers.
Back to bright but cloudy before the turnoff to Hwy 37. The Cassiar Highway.
- Important to get gas on this highway whenever you can.
- Limited services
We have seen several cyclists today. They are riding either north to south or vice versa. Prudhoe Bay to Argentina. Some have shorter routes. Lots of soloists.
Cassiar Highway.. 450 miles. Welcome to British Columbia. Lighter traffic on this highway. Also narrower road that seldom has shoulders.

The highway is narrow, hilly and twisty. There are little ponds and lakes along the way. Immediately scenic. The skies are smoky from fires in southern BC. Fires are bad there.
We are camped at a Provincial Park called Ta Ch’ Ila Park. It has a beautiful blue lake called Boya Lake. We arrive about 3pm early enough to snap up a campsite on the lake… first come, first serve. It’s a nice day at the park. Variety of kayaks, canoes, SUP on the lake this afternoon.
Mostly I have felt like crap today. I did a lot of sleeping in the car. Comes with a headache and stuffy nose. This needs to go away real soon.
I’m hoping to get our boat out tomorrow morning. Now that we are here we are taking our time the next few days.
A steady rain showed up thus evening so everyone scrambled to get inside a camper or a tent.
Tomorrow we drive further south.
