Liard Again!

Day 10

6/30/26. Tuesday

Today we chose to not move forward so it’s going to be an easy slow day. Not much to tell. We started the morning looking for open campsites that were available on the first come-first serve basis. After 3 laps around we settled on our site. It was situated away from the marshy swamp area that seemed to be much more mosquito prevalent. Once we’d moved camp it was time for another soak.

Started the day with a mid morning soak. I took a slow wading video into the grotto. It was a pleasant soak this morning with a small amount of people. Much busier last evening. There’s a couple of videos I took on the website. (www.cinnicrew.com)

Working my way down the length of the hot springs this morning.
Much quieter than last evening
In the lower pool. Not as hot but very comfortably warm
Headed into the “grotto”…gets much more narrow and interesting.
Obstacles to navigate under.
Some obstacles overhead I had to duck under.
It’s about top of my thighs deep. You can feel the cooler water on the bottom
The end of the waterway. The little stream is much colder but still tolerable..
not bone chilling
The biggest part of the lower pool
Now to go deep into the narrow end of the hot springs. An adventure!

In the afternoon we headed to Teeter Creek falls trail. It was a short 5 mile drive.  Nothing special here. It was a very seldom traveled trail that took about 10 minutes. It wasn’t far to the falls. Big disappointment… turns out it was a trail to a water gauge bridge. The falls was quite small.

Not that exciting or pretty.

The next biggest highlight of the day was setting up the camp shower. We had put the solar shower out in the sun all dal then added some hot water. It worked perfectly and felt good. Took the Sulphur smell from the hot springs away and my hair feels much much cleaner. Yeah😊

Tomorrow we travel to Watson Lake. I don’t expect it will be a long travel day. Just a big further north but it’s in the province of Yukon! Never been (bean as they say in Canadian dialect) to Yukon.
